Brilliance

Embracing your array of cozy shades
My arms draped over your shoulder blades
Fighting the urge to drag these anchors through tempestuous streams
Strawberry sunbeams, feathery and lush
Gobs of sherbet I’m aching to touch
Carving paths into intricate mazes
Lingering in and out of detrimental phases
I want to riddle the crashing, thunderous waves of vibrant life
With electric smoothness and wet, tickling strokes
As firm as concrete and as soft as a rabbit’s sleek coat

Your gooey, runny caramel sounds
Melt my tunnels, dark and slim
And rid them of their sordid sin
Sugarcane pearls drift near and greet me
With an inviting twinkle and a rosy, thin pout
Voices that soothe me and remove all doubt
Pierce me in an instant
Close the shutters and conceal this grin

Tilt back on your axis
Like a cannon on a battleground
And release the crackling air
It’s contagious

The streams sparkle with
Glittering, glistening pebbles
Speckled with flecks of seafoam dancing in scattered crumbs

Immersed in your bed of bittersweet hues and brilliant scents
Until the heavens stop breathing life into the beings below
My eyelids droop
Fastened shut with duct tape dreams
