They're all defaming
Glad that things aren't the same and
If they knew I tread they would shame my name and
Life's a board game, but we're not highly acclaimed
Not yet, we just exclaim it's not a fair game
You're built in a twisted frame
And I hear them proclaim
It's a cracked picture frame
And it's a bloody shame
This impact on your window frame
It's broken 'cuz you have no aim
All we don't know is how to make the skeletons turn into glitter
A beneficial transmitter
To make our life go quicker
Let's get giddy, and get some liquor
Let's play "Shots" and pierce the big dipper
Mix hookah with our maryjanes
Next morning in pain, damn life is a pain
Especially hungover going against the grain
Veins throbbing, heart robbing but
It's college
It's the biggest stigma you'll ever hit
If you can't handle it, you better split
You're seen as colorful, through glasses contorted
You were on the ground so you missed the audit
Your vision's distorted
Thank Goodness at that first checkup you had a straight edge week
What you say to the boss is always tongue and cheek
Keep walking on those loose boards till you hear them creak
That bitch'll take your job, that little sneak
"Oh the havoc you wreak" your boss booms
Fibbing to you that they don't have room
But they don't know what's consuming you
Inhale the fumes, write some lines
Your prose is wondrous time after time
You can be indolent, erratic but you'll make it big
Just keep chugging you'll make a fortune of being misunderstood
From the bottom to the top, you're the little engine that could
Your life is a sitcom
Sometimes you mold it into an operaette
Keep heading down that road and you will regret
This little duet
That you instigated but had no intention of following
Through the fire you took me to dragging me over hot coals
Got me smoking bowls, burning up my soles, keying your Rolls
That you thought you had
Baby it was a figment of your imagination
That tingling sensation was just the liquid coke
An emotion while sober you have yet to evoke
Don't fucking provoke me, don't even joke
I'll run faster than a wet egg yolk
I've dabbled in the ecstasy of other people next to me
Nearly as high as me
Except they aren't lightweights, as I tend to be
Rolling on the sordid ground, eyes whirling in my sockets round
Slacker me, fine-tuned the just-barely-made-it approach
In my territory, they hesitate to encroach
I've tested the patience of loads I'm sure
Just hit me now, my past is a blur
Schizo in the head, so unsure
I'll have to inhale clouds to get up on that mound
"Go and make me proud," she says real loud
I'll try not to disappoint, but just in case you come
You know I walk to the beat of a different drum
ON THE WIRE
The world's the antithesis
We're scaling the same tree and oblivious
Teetering over the edge of a threadbare cord
We haven't toppled yet, it's like "Thank the Lord"
Miles in the sky, heads in the clouds
Stars and stripes, it's really kind of loud
Busy scenery, we're loud and proud
Waving those colors like we're in a crowd
We gaze below, we see the petals
Vibrant colors louder than heavy metal
Ice cream flavors spring and greet
Bunched like grapes like they're in a fleet
The ribbons brush against our feet
We feel the sweet wind like a damp sheet
Raptors snapping like a venus fly trap
We're coming closer on the cord, and bridging the gap
Tongues lather us, they make us turn
Flames ignite and flicker as they burn
Mounds of sequins catapult like a musket
By the time it hits us we're lightly dusted
All the illuminations
All the sensations
And the contemplations
And the illustrations
I've got shelved away in my head
Didn't do me any good when I looked ahead
Now all this noise and radiance
Doesn't really make any sense
But it's 'cuz it hit us when we expected it least
Were so high that we couldn't cheat
Now we can be ravenous at this feast
Ruddy-cheeked and starry-eyed
Nothing this good ever crossed our minds
If we stay at the wheel then we're sure to find
The bottom of that orgasmic landmine
Below, thar it blows!
Rumbling and crackling like a bonfire
We ignored it, like we're going undercover
Things came, things went
All in our way
We didn't live like Rent
"No day but today"
We put on our cruise control
Fell into a slumber, now we're in this hole
It's quite warm and it's quite cozy
Peep if you want, I advocate nosy
Folks can talk all they desire
It'll just egg us on, we'll only fly higher
Our need for each other is quite dire
Since together we fell from that threadbare wire
PEACE IN THE CREVICES
The world's falling into pieces
It's about time that we smooth out the creases
Every time we gather up the good, we always release it
Mayhem increasing
So much ire built up within our beings
Can't control it so we shoot up everything
Too inept to recognize these feelings
Too damn blind to analyze what we're seeing
We're far too proud to have intelligible conversation
Part of one fragmented, corrupt kind of nation
The blue blooded's ratification
Of this entrenched stratification
Crumbling inspiration
No ambition, plummeting dedication
You'd care a little more if you happened to be Haitian
The magnitude of this dilemma's above a seven-point-oh
All we care about is frivolities, disregarding the woe
If we ease back now then we'll lose our glow
Really now? Fuck no
If we shift gears now, then we'll stub a toe
To hell with reality, we put on a show
Loopholes in our system only advocate for the unjust
Every attempt at mending turns out to be a bust
Throw a band-aid over it, disregard it till it goes
Who cares what's underneath when we can strike a pose?
We just take a shovel and dump the mud
To fill in the crevices so they won't catch the flood
We bury it deep, so what's promising won't seep
It's like second nature, an action we execute
Unthinking, adding bricks to the building of blunders
We're teeming with the uncontrollable, so it's no wonder
We shove it in the crannies and nooks
The government refuses to turn around and look
At the predicaments right before our eyes
It's ridiculous how we fail to be meticulous
When coping with the severity of what's in front of you and me
Charity is not only what these people need
They need some acknowledgement
Let's not bite off so much, we must start small
We must do what we say and say what we scrawl
Stick a straw deep into the cracks
Suck out the glitter, let's bring peace back
