Not very many notches above Fred Fucking Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church let's just put it that way. They are clinically insane---they hate EVERYONE and are about as sick and twisted as anyone could get. Even Fox News called them nuts.
Billy Graham is not that much better. He's a nutcase, religious extremist Evangelical Christian which probably means he was very much an ardent fan of the Bush Administration.
Religious extremists are what's primarily wrong with this world, I'm telling you. One of my best friends may be Evangelical but naturally there is SO much we don't agree on. I would rather gouge my eyes out then step foot in her cult-ish church.
Anyway, as you may have guessed Graham is a graduate of Wheaton College...shocker. As is his wife. Reminds me of my old Biology teacher/swim coach who preached about creationism in our PUBLIC high school, and assured us evolution was just a "myth". Seriously? How can one even argue that? What the FUCK?
Nothing gets me as angry as people like this...conservative, narrow-minded, ill-informed nutcases who preach about God and peace and shit but paradoxically, barely accept anyone in this world. Many of them are racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic bigots. You cannot get much worse than that in the world.
Oh, which reminds me...Graham has been caught on tape making anti-Semitic remarks, such as referring to Jews as "the synagogue of Satan." What the fuck? Really? Oh and I supposed the Holocaust didn't really occur did it Graham?
And he has been named one of the most admired Americans ever---has been on multiple lists like this I believe. That is despicable.
I'm not bashing Evangelicals, I'm saying extremists in general are nut jobs. I may be forced against my will to go to Catholic church, but I discovered long ago that it is NOT for me. And despite the fact that I was forced to be confirmed, baptized, and all of that, I like to think of myself as merely Spiritual. I certainly believe in God, but I need a more open-minded sanctuary. Somewhere where I just get better vibes. That's why I've been saying forever that I am going to explore Unitarian Universalism. I have always been fascinated by Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism as well.
Well anyway, I'm going off on a tangent here. I have to go back to work now, I'll finish this discussion on Billy Graham and what's wrong with extremist Christianity later on.
Fred Phelps and Billy Graham are essentially white supremacists...I will delve more into that later, however, and if they are or not fervent supporters of the KKK. It's despicable...the KKK even exits currently in the state I go to school in, so I've heard. So goddamn fucked up. Fuck this world sometimes.
Someday, I hope to find a partner who will love me even MORE for my strongass opinions!
